Julia Hernandez, Esq. is a New York City based attorney practicing immigration and family law. Julia has over ten years of experience representing individuals and families in U.S. Immigration Court, in Family Courts, in federal district court, and before United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS).

From 2014 to 2019 Julia was a senior staff attorney with Brooklyn Defender Services’ Family Defense Practice. She holds a J.D. from CUNY School of Law and a B.A. in Anthropology from the State University of New York at New Paltz. Julia is licensed to practice law in New York and speaks Spanish.

Julia has published widely in her field. Her work has appeared in journals such as Clinical Law Review, Journal of Human Rights Practice and the Yale Law Journal Forum. Julia also authored the re-written decision in Reno v. Flores for Feminist Judgments: Rewritten Immigration Law Opinions.
